"A Man For All Reasons"
That's how Steve Zockoll, the Managing Director of 0800 Handyman describes his business. He should know, his father Jim, the Chairman, introduced Dyno-Rod as the first UK service franchise in 1963 whilst a pilot for Pan Am, in the 1960's. The Dyno Group was sold to British Gas in 2004.
In the same way that Dyno-Rod transformed the Drains and Plumbing market by offering a quality service at a set price with polite and trustworthy engineers, 0800 Handyman will provide a nationwide professional handyman service using a dedicated multi tasking franchisee network. Before 0800 Handyman, it was very difficult and expensive to get someone to fit a set of taps, replace broken bathroom tiles or put up a new wall light. You either had to do it yourself, or pay someone an exorbitant amount to get it done. Often they would turn up late and still find time to drink your tea.
The company was formed in 2001 by Bruce Greig as Redjacks and in 2003 changed its name to 0800 Handyman following an investment into the company by The Zockoll Group. The view taken was that if you wanted to call a number, it was far easier to remember the name, 0800 HANDYMAN, and tap it out on the phone's keypad than remember a number.
Late in 2007, Steve Zockoll, himself a former Pan Am pilot, decided that the time was ripe to acquire ownership of 0800 Handyman and expand the company using The Zockoll Groups previous franchise experience.
Franchisees are being sought within the M25 area.
